Inpatient care
When you think of a scenario where you would really need health insurance, you likely think of a disease or other ailment striking that would require immediate, highly technical care or possibly a significant amount of time in the hospital. This type of situation is not only of grave concern to just about everyone alive but also the bread and butter for health insurance companies all over the world.
A definition for inpatient care is any medical treatment received that requires you to be admitted to the hospital. This means other types of treatment such as doctor consultations, day surgeries, or medications are generally regarded as outpatient treatments.
Inpatient insurance: The most important coverage you can have
When it comes to health insurance, there is an industry standard for what constitutes the most basic coverage. Essentially, inpatient insurance is the basis on which most health insurance plans build their foundation. This is because the conditions which lead to inpatient treatment are generally the most urgent and serious of afflictions. Emergency health problems that might require surgery such as a heart attack, appendicitis, or injuries sustained from a serious accident will always require admission to the hospital, thus treating such conditions falls under the heading of inpatient healthcare. Other serious illnesses that would likely require inpatient treatment include:
-
Pneumonia
-
Septicemia
-
Complications from diabetes
-
Bone breaks or fractures
-
Complications from implants or grafts
-
Stroke
-
Mood disorders
-
Osteoarthritis
-
Back and spinal problems
-
Various cardiovascular diseases
-
Wounds or other bodily trauma
-
Skin and subcutaneous tissue infection
-
And many more
Mandatory inpatient insurance requirements in Dubai
While not every place in the United Arab Emirates has a requirement for all people to have inpatient health insurance coverage, two of the most prominent Emirates do have such mandates. Dubai and Abu Dhabi have both enacted laws that require local residents to possess private health insurance at all times or risk fines or other punishments. In Dubai in particular, this law even includes visitors to the country. Without the proper proof of insurance, tourists or business people trying to enter Dubai may not be issued an entry visa.
There are other minimum requirements that any insurance policy in these two emirates need to meet before they will be regarded as sufficiently fulfilling legal requirements set forth by respective local governments. In Dubai, inpatient benefits can come with a 20% coinsurance payment of up to a maximum of AED 1,000 annually. In Abu Dhabi, the maximum annual limit on health insurance plans meeting minimum requirements in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi is AED 150,000.
International inpatient insurance
When compared to our competition, Pacific Prime Dubai has a competitive edge when it comes to our medical insurance plans. This is because we specialize in international health insurance plans that provide coverage in virtually any hospital in any country worldwide.
With the vast majority of health insurance policies, once you are outside of your home country, no claims can be made against the policy. This means that if you need important inpatient coverage while abroad, you will be on the hook for the full cost of treatment unless you have secured a separate insurance plan for while you are traveling. This need not be a headache for you with international health insurance, however.
With an international health insurance plan, you will have continuous and automatic coverage abroad no matter where you go. The coverage that you had at home will be the same coverage you have while abroad, and you will still be able to choose any hospital or doctor you prefer.
